New Pattern time folks! Introducing the Intwined Bag, a fast felted bag that uses 14 ply wool in two brilliant colours. This bag was designed as a contest entry for the Paradise Fibers Woolpak contest and is now my favorite giant knitting bag. Big enough to fit an entire sweater inside as well as a few smaller projects this bag can handle serious knitting addiction with ease while the drawstring strap cinches the top closed to keep all your goodies in check.
Leave a comment by 12pm on the 3rd and the drawing for TWO winners will happen next week on October 4th. Happy Knitting and Good luck! xo Meghan

Tapestry needle, 8 stitch markers, measuring tape, cable needle
GAUGE
14sts/20 rows = 4" square in stockinette stitch before felting

I use a couple of large canvas totes for my knitting. But sometimes I designate them for specific projects.
ReplyDeleteWow. My current giant knitting bag is a magnified "Little Slip of a Thing" from Knitty Fall 2006.Your pattern improves on that one by a lot. Love the big drawstring eyelets, and the lovely colorwork. I have my fingers crossed!

The bag is BEAUTIFUL, well done. I tend to have bags for each project (a mix of sizes and styles) plus a larger reusable store tote for multiple projects. I select the bag to take based on the attention level - socks go everywhere (and I keep an emergency bag in the car, just in case!)

Gorgeous bag!
ReplyDeleteMy main knitting bags is a My Constant Companion felted bag. (well, bagS, I've made a few) I never leave my house without knitting--you just never know when you'll get stuck somewhere and need to knit.
I get tons of compliments on a plain MCC bag--Intwined will make my non-knitting friends crazy with bag envy.

Wow! Your bag looks yummily roomy! I have been doing small projects of late so use a sweet little patchwork bag or for larger items a calico bag but this size would accommodate knitting PLUS my extra spinning bibs & bobs for meetings. Love your colour combination to, so fresh!

What a beautiful pattern! The colors and patterning work really well together.
ReplyDeleteI just love the design and the colors of this bag. It really struck me. I use a variety of bags depending on the size of the pattern I'm working on. If the pattern is complicated I use one with extra pockets for all the little doo-dads that accompany that project. You can bet if I win this pattern this bag will be holding my GAAA I've started.

My favorite knitting bag is the Knowknits nylon drawstring one. I have all 3 sizes for different sized projects. I love that they're lightweight for on-the-road projects, they have a yarn loop, and most importantly, they can hang off belt loops for portable, hands-free knitting. The various colors provide color coding for your different projects. At home the bags hang off my file handles so they don't move around. I do have quite a variety of knitting bags, large and small, and each has its place. They're addictive. I have yet to knit from a felted bag though.

Lost my words, just wonderful bag! And the bag closing handles are genious :)
ReplyDeleteLuck or not I'm going to have this pattern :)

My favorite bag is actually a purse made from oil cloth with butterflies on it. I use it for all my projects that I take out of the house.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite bag is a purse made of oil cloth that has butterflies on it. I put every project in it that I'm going to take with me.
ReplyDeletePosted for Bea: I wanted to let you know, how much I love your new design, looks great and very functional, exactly what I was searching! Congratulations! I have to knit one (at least, have a lot of WIP´s…) for my own as soon as possible (=as soon as I have money left for pattern and yarn).
ReplyDeleteSo far I use the Sock project bag from Ravelry for my “knitting-to-go”, bigger projects are stored in a Tote Bag (Bob chasing yarn), also from Ravelry. Seems as if I´m not only a Knitaholic, I´m also a Ravelholic… ;o)
My grandmother taught me to knit years ago, but I've just recently come back to it. I currently use the heavy plastic bags with zippers on them that curtains come in, one for each project. Because they're clear, I can see what I'm after. It would be wonderful to knit and use this beautiful bag. Thanks for the chance to win this!

I love your new bag - especially the drawstring closure and the colorwork. Right now I'm using a canvas totebag, with smaller individual project bags inside to try to keep things organized. When the weather gets bad, I switch to a wheeled backback to protect everything. I don't have a favorite bag yet, but your pattern looks like it could become my new favorite bag.

Love the bag pattern.
ReplyDeleteI have a fabulous patchwork cotton bag which was made for me by Ravelry Yarn swapper. It has my name embroidered on it. Travels on buses, trains and in car(I can't drive so I can knit) with a couple of small wips in it .It has a useful zip pocket on outside in which I carry stitchmarkers ,a couple of spare sets dpns, circular needle and more.Attached to zip is a tape measure I got in another Yarn swap.
Only suitable for small project or two.I need one for bigger garments..store reuseables aren't right for the job.
I'm a Ravelry and wool addict

Knitting is a useful addiction..it doesn't need a cure..just need more wool!
Glad to find you. My knitting bags vary - I'm embarrassingly partial to small shopping bags (burdick's chocolates) and Webs bags, along with the occasional KnowKnits. I clearly need something more special.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bag...I'm thinking it would also make a nice baby-changing bag.
ReplyDeleteI carry an oversize handbag so that my knitting fits in. It's a blue woven bag with multi-coloured spots.
Posted for Dehbi: Lovely and very smart-looking tote bag!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite knitting bag…or what I use to carry my knitting around, is really a woven basket of sisal, or some grass-like stuff with leather straps and a leather binding around the top edge. The straps have been replaced once and the binding was an addition I had put on by an upholsterer in a desperate attempt to save the bag…I’ve carried it for 25 years and hope to carry it for another 25 years, or longer!
This is beautiful! I usually keep about 3 projects going in a bag at home and then throw one into another bag for transportable knitting. I hope to knit a bag for storing projects soon - right now I'm sadly tearing through many a plastic bag!

Wonderful pattern. It is now in my favorites on Ravelry under NettieKnits. I am now using canvas project bags based on the size of the project I am working on. I do have my trusty Ravelry tote as well. :) I think that felting is a magical process and what you have done with this project is magic as well. All the best. -- Nettie
